Do you want an Online MBA degree?
Posted by admin at 3:33 pm in Online Degree

I’ve always wanted to study further but due to financial considerations I was unable to do so. But now after working for a few years, I’ve decided that its time I did study further to help me further my career.

Don’t get me wrong; I have a great managerial position which pays off my bills. So leaving my job is not a good option at all. But after extensive research, I found that online learning was a good alternative for me to get a MBA degree which would add to my current job experience. But how would I find the best Online MBA degree for me and how could I choose it?  Here are a few tips that I found out the hard way to help you out:

  1. How is the Online MBA degree course presented? Top tier professional colleges like the University of Phoenix are now offering the same courses they offer on campus as distance education or online courses. The coursework as well as writing assignments are the same and the caliber of the degree is considered equivalent to learning full time at the college. Employers also consider a working experienced background with a professional online degree equivalent to a fulltime degree.
  2. Is accreditation important? Accreditation is really, really, important if you want your Online MBA degree course to be accepted by employers for better prospects. There are six regional accreditation organizations but these are for the university on the whole and not only for the degree. There are also additional accreditations required for the Online MBA degree course called as the ACBSP accreditation which the University of Phoenix has registered its business program for. But the best accreditation for any online business program is called AACSB accreditation and human resource managers or hiring managers look for these in online MBA degrees
  3. Is the online course self-paced?  Some schools allow you to complete the coursework at your own pace, allowing you to finish much faster than an on campus program, or to take longer if you have too many other obligations to work at a faster pace.  With some of these programs it is possible to earn your degree in as little as 10 months, while most programs take at least 2 years.
  4. What does your employer think about online degrees, and will they help pay your tuition?  Many more employers are placing more and more value on online MBA degrees - especially if it is earned from a top tier, accredited online university.  In addition, quite a few employers will offer assistance for tuition if you do earn your MBA degree, so it pays to find out.

The directory at eLearningYellowPages.com offers a full listing of top, accredited universities offering online MBA degrees.  Take a look, and request information from all of the schools that interest you.  It’s the best way to find out which program is best for you.

Online Psychology Degree: A Good idea?
Posted by admin at 2:17 pm in Online Degree

I used to love psychology when I was in college, but the fact was that the course was just too expensive to do full time. Also, I was a little confused; there were so many branches that I was worried about which one would suit me the best!  Since I’m already working as a school counselor, I was more interested in something related to it.  I was surprised at the options available for an Online Psychology Degree. I didn’t have to give up my day time job and it was really easy to get admitted.

For first timers, how do you go about finding the best college for your online degree? You don’t want to get scammed and you don’t want to waste your money on a degree which is not recognized by employers! A good way to start is by short listing colleges which have the degree you want. If you want to earn an Online Psychology Degree, then find out which accredited colleges offer the course.   Accreditation in very important for the colleges you short list as unless the college is accredited, the degree in invalid! So find out from the college website about accreditation and then go to the accrediting organization website and confirm it independently.

There are six independent accrediting organizations and the online college you choose should have accreditation from at least one of them. Then you need to find out which online college offers the best Online Psychology Degree out of all the accredited colleges you have chosen.

For example, some colleges will offer you a chance to correspond with your instructor by e-mail, special educational soft ware, student chat rooms, instant messaging, bulletin boards, as well as streaming and recorded lectures. You can contact your instructor at specific times everyday and written assignments have to be handed in regularly. Some campuses also hold outreach programs where for a week you can meet on campus for classes and lectures.

Earning an online psychology degree will take a little perseverance and hard work but it’s definitely easier then ever before!

Many single mothers are now thinking if they could go back to school, they could finally make ends meet. Some may be considering an online Nursing degree, while others just want to pay off the bills.

However, there may be a host of other questions that are holding you back? Like, how would I find the time to take care of my baby? Or how would I pay for college by myself?

These are not very tough questions considering the fact that grants for single moms going back to school are rising. More importantly, an online degree offers you that chance to complete your education.

Online courses are a great way to continue your education because you will be doing most of your coursework while you are at home. And that means more time to spend with your children. Single moms often worry most about their children while they are short of income. And online education offers that one-stop solution for their niche education requirements.

As you find out more and more about online courses, whether its for nursing school or an MBA degree, you’ll learn that the advantages are too big to pass up if you’re a single mom. The best part is that you would not have to spend your whole day in school, and leave your baby in a crib for many hours a day.

The convenience of online courses is that you can sit in front of a computer for a couple of hours a day and do well in your courses. You would also have to take a look at the online content provided by your teacher or guide at your school. And scheduling has never been easier, since you can do your coursework during any part of the day at your convenience.

Thinking About Making a Career Change?
Posted by admin at 12:26 pm in Online Degree

Many individuals find themselves in unsatisfying, dead-end jobs.  They may stay at those jobs for their entire working life, or often they decide to make a career change.

If you are thinking about making a career change, there are a few things to keep in mind.

  1. Don’t leave a job if you don’t have a new one to go to, unless you have no other choice.
  2. Plan for a career change. Determine what you want to do, and your options.
    • Evaluate your interests.  Think about those activities that you love.  Can you make a career of it?  For instance, if you love working with animals you may want to consider working as a Veterinary Technician, and so on.
    • Research your chosen career path.  Do you need additional education in order to pursue your dream?  Is there a need additional workers in the field or industry that you have targeted?  What is the expected salary?  Working conditions? etc. (Check out the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Outlook Handbook)
  3. Get the college degree, or further training and skills that you need while you still are employed.  With online college degree programs and online career diploma training programs, you can obtain skills and credentials before you take the plunge.  You may be surprised at all of the options available.
  4. Finally, once you have your credentials in hand, start looking for your new job.

You don’t have to stay with a job that you hate forever, but don’t shoot yourself in the foot by leaving a job before you have a better one to go to.  Many people make this mistake, and find it difficult to get another job because they are unemployed.  Also, while you work towards your targeted career, make sure that you meet or even exceed your current job responsibilities.  Remember, you may need a good reference to get that new job, since you may have little or no experience in your chosen new profession, so don’t burn your bridges.
